frequently asked questions
How do I know if therapy is right for me right now?
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If something has been weighing on you, feeling stuck, or hard to navigate on your own, therapy can be a supportive place to explore that. It’s okay to come in with questions rather than clear goals; clarity often emerges through the process.
What does getting started look like?
Let's TalkReach out, and I’ll get back to you to schedule a free 30-minute virtual consultation. This is a chance to chat, answer any questions, and see if working together feels like a good fit.
If it does, I’ll send over some intake paperwork and we’ll schedule your first full session. The first session or two are about getting to know you, your history, what’s been going on, and exploring if therapy were helpful, what would be different. From there, deeper work begins.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
At this time, sessions are fully virtual, allowing for flexibility, accessibility, and comfort. You can join from a space that feels private and familiar. While some people prefer in-person work, meaningful and effective therapy can absolutely happen online, something I’ve experienced both personally and professionally.
How much does therapy cost?
Individual sessions are $140 for 60 minutes. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ($80–$120) depending on need and availability.
Why does therapy cost what it does?
The fee reflects more than the time we spend together in session. It also includes preparation, documentation, ongoing training, and consultation, all of which support the quality of care in our work together.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Many extended health insurance plans cover therapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) or Registered Psychotherapist, depending on your provider. Coverage varies, so it’s best to check directly with your insurance company. Receipts are provided for reimbursement when applicable.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
I ask for 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less notice are subject to 50% of the session fee, unless we’re able to reschedule within the same week (which I’ll always do my best to accommodate). A one-time exception is offered for unexpected circumstances. No shows or missed appointments are subject to the full session fee.
How many sessions will I need?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients find 6-12 sessions helpful for a specific concern, while others choose to stick with it longer to explore patterns and deepen self-understanding. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy continues to feel helpful and aligned with your goals.
What approach do you use?
More about my approachMy work is person-centered, which means I see you as the expert in your own experience. Depending on your needs, I integrate mindfulness and somatic practices to support the connection between mind and body. I also draw from approaches such as psychodynamic and parts work (IFS), as well as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT) and solution-focused therapy (SFT).
Is everything I share confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions, such as concerns about safety or situations where disclosure is required by law. We’ll review these limits together in the first session so everything feels clear and transparent.
What if I’ve never been to therapy before?
That’s completely okay. Many people feel unsure or nervous before starting therapy. You don’t need to know what to say or where to begin. Part of my role is to help the process feel clear, supportive, and steady from the very first session.
